Westport Dental Centre is one of the longest established dental practices in Ireland, founded in 1938 by Dr. James Vincent McGovern and taken over by his son, Dr. Joseph Patrick McGovern in 1972. In 2013, after a long and careful consideration, Dr. McGovern decided to share running his successful practice with Dr. Przemek Popielarek and Dr. Agnieszka Kwiatkowska, who relocated to Westport from Drogheda. Over the years our practice has built up a very large base of loyal clientele and our welcoming environment not only appeals to patients from various parts of county Mayo and Galway, but many of the staff have been with us for a considerable length of time too!

This has allowed us to bring and offer these skills to the patients of Westport Dental Centre and significantly reduce the number of patients having to be referred for specialist treatment outside of Westport. We are proud to be able to offer the full range of dental treatment, including treatment of complex restorative cases, smile design, orthodontic treatment for adults, oral surgery, dental implants and root canal treatment as well as comprehensive gum disease preventative care, thanks to our hygienist.

Planning your care

We believe that it is vital that all our patients know the pros and cons and the cost of their treatment choices. We will talk you through your options and together decide on the best treatment and you will be provided with detailed treatment plan and estimate. Your consultation will be thorough – we want you to know how healthy your teeth and gums are. We will then work with you in planning and providing the treatment that both looks great and is optimal for your long-term oral health.

Equipment

We are proud to offer our patients the best in dental equipment and materials which helps us to provide the highest possible quality of treatment. Our practice is equipped with a digital x-ray machines which means the lowest possible dose of radiation and high quality pictures ready to be viewed almost immediately. We also have an intra-oral camera and a digital SLR camera allowing us to show and explain to our patients any existing dental health problems. We are also a fully computerised practice which means all our patients’ records are kept safe in one place and we are able to offer a very efficient appointment recall system and send our patients SMS and email reminders about their visits. All our laboratory work, like dentures, crowns, bridges and biteguards, are made to a very high standards by highly skilled technicians in Ireland, Germany, United States and United Kingdom.
